"A recent study from Brigham Young University with the Department of Education and Lumen Learning Michigan, found that college students who use Open Educational Resources (OER) in its undergraduate, usually get as good or better than those who use commercial textbooks, despite having an academic load mayor.Los free textbooks open source is gaining ground in schools. These books are published under an open license, they are usually free to download or sell for more or less what it costs to print. Part of this movement called Open, abbreviated as OER resources OER or in its English form. Now a small but growing group of teachers of higher education in California are trying to maintain academic costs with the use of open texts written by teachers and peer reviewed. A notable example of this new model is the University of California Press announced this October the publication of the first five titles as part of its Luminos initiative. A collection of titles of academic books professionally edited, peer reviewed and published in open access, with a choice of printing on demand for those who prefer physical books. Similar models of open access for the publication of academic books are being implemented by publishers such as The Ohio State University Press, Penn State Romance Studies, Amherst College Press, ANU (Australian National University) Press, De Gruyter Open ,, and others.
