"A few months ago, a U.S. appeals court ruled unanimously that Google’s scanning and indexing of millions of books was not a wholesale attack on authors and the copyright system, as the Authors Guild has been arguing for years, but is clearly permitted under the 'fair use' exemption in copyright law. Unsatisfied, the Guild is now trying to convince the Supreme Court to hear its case. But the authors’ group is still wrong. The Guild has filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to step in to reverse the appeals court decision, as well as a so-called 'friends of the court' brief from prominent authors like Margaret Atwood ..."
