figshare: Monash University launch figshare for institutions

"At figshare, we believe in partnering with the community in order to build tools that matter to them, which fits into existing workflows whilst also helping to further the research data agenda. There’s no greater example of this than our partnership with Monash University in Australia and it was our great pleasure to attend the launch of their figshare service last week. Their latest research data management service now allows researchers to store, share and make their data available while retaining control of access rights, re-use conditions and ownership. Over the past 2 years we have been working with David Groenewegen, Director of Research and his team in the library, along with the eSolutions department to develop figshare for Institutions. This ultimately meant completely rebuilding figshare from the ground up in order to cater to the diverse needs of institutions around the world. Among the many innovations, figshare is now able to store data in places other than our default Amazon Web Services S3 storage. For Monash University we plugged into Vicnode storage, part of the Australian national network of Research Data Services (RDS). As a result data, do not leave Victoria, Australia so Monash researchers can rest assured they are compliant with Australia’s data sovereignty regulations ..."
