Summary:

"PLOS has a new partner in the ongoing effort to bring important research directly to the people who can use it to make a difference. The newest collaborator isn’t a flesh-and-blood human, but rather the semi-sentient supercomputer:  IBM Watson. Together PLOS and IBM Watson will bring quality Open Access biomedical literature to the entrepeneurs and innovators who can best accelerate research progress. Sheryl P. Denker describes the innovative effort to improve text and data mining, extract information, and quickly provide cross-referenced context along with content from the library of papers published in PLOS Biology and PLOS Medicine. Read the complete story of this exciting new innovation in Open Access publishing on the PLOS Blog."
