Summary:

Use the link to access the infographic described in the following post on figshare, "Within the main goal of supporting an open access strategy in the European Research Area, the specific aim of the TO.ACTION project is to spread - among all the relevant stakeholders and agents in the knowledge circulation process -a culture of open access to scientific results generated by publicly funded research. The project relies on a circular mechanism that allows a continuous and dynamic updating of the training actions and contents, a mechanism able to persist even after the project completion. Main agents in this circular operation are: Topics Incubator โ€“ in the role of developing a set of training modules tailored according to a deep stakeholder needs analysis; Open Access Knowledge Points (OAKPs) โ€“ in the role of harvesting issues and needs from society, to be submitted to the Topics Incubators in order to dynamically upgrading the training modules accordingly. As a result of the activities, an Observatory will be established in order to guarantee a continuous self-improvement cycle. Special care is paid to the specific needs of the different target communities of stakeholders, in order to tailor the project action accordingly. A fundamental distinction is between producers (in need of training ) and consumers (in need of awareness raising actions) of scientific results. Disciplinary distinctions are greatly considered as well, together with the public/private nature of the target stakeholder community. An important added value of the project is the integrated view of different channels of knowledge circulation usually treated separately, such as within the scientific community (scholarly communication), between the scientific system and the enterprise (knowledge transfer) and between the scientific system and the public (Public understanding of science). TO.ACTION will build upon existing OA work in the EU to train stakeholders in accessing and exploiting existing OA research results โ€“ including the 20% of the FP7-funded work made available via Open Access."
