Summary:

“The e-resource Anthropological Literature has begun indexing open access anthropology journals... By providing citations to these articles in Anthropological Literature, researchers, faculty and students can search these new titles along with more traditional sources. We intend to continue to expand the current list of indexed open access journals. Feel free to suggest a title! Historically, the indexed journals were drawn from the Tozzer Library collection, but as scholars have expanded their research past the physical boundaries of any one library, we have begun to expand our content to include open access titles. Our decision promotes the growing trend of scholars who are moving towards publishing in open access journals as a means to promote shared scholarship, reduce publication costs, and provide free access to research and knowledge. Anthropological Literature has been produced at Harvard University for over 100 years. The bibliographic index is one of the oldest anthropological indexes in the world and provides access to scholarly research in anthropology and all its sub-disciplines, as well as offers a historical perspective on the discipline of anthropology over the past two hundred years. The index includes more than 600,000 articles dating back to the early 19th century (we index articles in over 50 different languages), with 10,000 new citations added annually in monthly updates.
