Summary:

“As far as I am aware, until a few weeks ago, there had only been one public debate about Open Access (OA) in the UK, which took place in late February this year. There's a great blog post about over at F1000 Research. The event was live tweeted and shortly afterwards, a video of the event appeared here at University of Oxford... On 25th May 2012, another OA debate that took place at Imperial College London... In the back of my mind was the fact that in terms of uploading data to figshare in boundaries of space, this was unlimited. This is where you will find the high definition version of the video ... Open access: is it open season on traditional scientific publishing? Retrieved 13:27, Jun 22, 2012 (GMT)  http://dx.doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.92218... ‘ I'm very glad that not just those who attended can watch it and discuss/debate it on Twitter. There are several upcoming important milestones for OA including:  1) Feedback from The White House in response to this very recent Petitionrelating to OA  2) FRPPA  3) Horizon 2020  Following on from the positive steps made in the Finch report and the 'Science as an Open Enterprise' report last week, we are hopeful that the current momentum for open research continues.”
