"The implications of Open Access will be examined by a panel debate held at the House of Lords and hosted by the Libraries All Party Parliamentary Group. Speakers from the Wellcome Trust, Institute of Ideas, British Library and Taylor & Francis Group will join event Chair and Joint Vice-Chair of the Libraries APPG Lord Graham Tope. Through greater access to research results Open Access has the potential to benefit researchers, Universities, funding providers, the economy and wider society.  But the practicalities of making this a reality are more difficult than they might seem. How do we ensure that the mechanism by which we generate and disseminate research information helps rather than hinders the process? What’s the best route to get there – Green or Gold? And isn’t the benefit to society so great that, collectively, we must find a way to make it happen? The summit is supported by CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals and SCONUL: The Society of College, National and University Libraries ..."
