Summary:

"Modern Languages Open (MLO) is a peer-reviewed platform for the open access publication of research from across the modern languages to a global audience ... MLO is published by Liverpool University Press, one of the world’s leading publishers in the modern languages, in partnership with the University of Liverpool Library.  Current sections are: Spanish; French and Francophone; German; Portuguese and Lusophone; Chinese/Asian languages; and Russian and Eastern European Languages ... MLO articles are open access immediately upon publication (Gold), whereby an author publication fee (APC) is charged after acceptance. The normal publication fee of £500/$750 has been discounted to £250/$350 for each published article.  Authors who do not have the means to cover the publication fee may request a waiver after acceptance and are encouraged to request more information.  As part of the discounted launch of MLO, institutions are able to become members for a discounted £1000/$1500, this entitles scholars in an institution to publish ten articles (at the equivalent of £100/$150 per article) without time limit, provided those articles pass rigorous peer review ... To mark the launch, there will be an APC waiver for the 10 best papers submitted from early career researchers. Papers will be judged by the MLO Section Editors. The APC waiver is facilitated through the generosity of LUP authors, participating in the LUP Authors Fund, which is match funded by LUP ..."
