WSU News Center - Journal launch, ‘outspoken’ advocate celebrate open access

Use the link to access more information about all of the OA Week events: "Free, online access, sharing and re-use of the results of scholarly research will be celebrated and promoted at Washington State University Oct. 22-28 as part of International Open Access Week.   'We want to bring the issue of open access publishing to the forefront of the WSU community,' said WSU Social Sciences Librarian Lorena O’English. 'Instead of financial barriers between people and research, open access supports the free exchange of scholarly information. It’s the future of academic publishing.'  An invited speaker will discuss that future, and members of the WSU community are invited to make short presentations as part of the WSU Open Access Week events:   2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, Terrell Library Atrium- LandEscapes launch party. LandEscapes Literary and Arts Journal, is an annual publication that focuses on the creative talent of WSU students. Although it has been around for more than 10 years, this will be the first year it goes online.   'LandEscapes is going to our new platform, on Open Journal Systems,' said WSU Librarian for Languages and Cultures Gabriella Reznowski.
