Peter Suber - Google+ - Help the WCRF understand the difference between green and…

Summary:

"The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) says it would like to require OA for WCRF-funded research. But it believes the only way to do so is by requiring submission to OA journals (gold OA). It completely overlooks the more common, more desirable, more effective, and less expensive possibility of requiring deposit in OA repositories (green OA). I've left a comment on its blog. But if any readers have influence at WCRF, please help out.  If we don't count the new and controversial, quasi-gold OA mandate at the RCUK , then all funder OA mandates, in all nations, for all our history, have been green OA mandates. There's a good reason for that."
