"ACADEMIC publishers need to be transparent about their profit margins to resolve the financial crisis in which libraries can’t afford rising journal prices, the British Academy for the humanities and social sciences has warned. A report last week on open access in the humanities and social sciences found that in the US between 1985 and 2005 the average institutional price of journals increased by a massive 302 per cent compared with inflation of just 68 per cent ..."
