Summary:

"ICORE and OEC addressed the connection between Open Research and Open Education: Please find the results of the ICORE and OEC workshop here In an interactive workshop ICORE and OEC have discussed with all participants the potentials of and needs for combining Open Research and Open Education. Christian M. Stracke (ICORE) and Ignasi Lasbastida (OEC and CC) facilitated and moderated the session with their initial short statements. Then the participants decided on guiding questions to be addressed and answered in open plenary. The lively discussion led to the consensus that it is urgently required to re-establish openness as default (instead of copyright protection). All inputs by the participants were collected and final results were formulated and approve din consensus, now published as Declaration of Crete. A next ICORE presentation will take place at the upcoming EDEN conference in Zagreb (11th of June 2014).
