"We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the attendees, speakers, and organisational staff who helped make the Future of Academic Impacts conference on 4th December 2012 a success. This one day conference marked the end of the three-year ‘Impact of Social Sciences’ project – but not, of course, the Impact blog – based at the London School of Economics that has been funded by HEFCE. Working with colleagues at Imperial College London and the University of Leeds, we looked at the nature and measurement of impact of academic research in the social sciences on government and policymaking, business and industry, and civil society. The conference brought the research project to a close, discussed the results and outcomes of the project and sought to look forward to how impact research and measurement might develop over the next ten year period looking beyond REF2014.
