Summary:

"Doctoral theses are a fantastic resource for research. Over the past few years, the library has made available over 800 LSE theses open access on LSE Theses Online. The breadth of the collection is huge and reflects the wide research interests of doctoral students over a hundred years; from Gilbert Slater’s 1905 thesis on the enclosure of common fields in the 18th and 19th centuries, to Richard Bramwell’s 2011 sociology of UK hip-hop and grime.  A recent thesis added to the collection has a very interesting “preamble” on pages 4 – 5 which is well worth a look! The Library is pleased to announce that over the coming months a further 2,000 LSE theses will be added to LSE Theses Online, as well as the database ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global. Working with ProQuest, the project is now in full-swing. As a library assistant working in the research support team, I’m really excited to be involved in exposing LSE research so that anyone can view and download theses online without charge.  Nearly a quarter of a million downloads have taken place since LSE Theses Online was started, and 10,000 more are registered every month. How did we select the theses to be digitised? ..."
