Summary:

"In 2026, De Gruyter Brill will significantly expand its Subscribe to Open (S2O) program, DG2O, by transitioning 66 additional De Gruyter journals to open access. This brings the total number of titles in the program to 124, marking a major milestone in the publisher’s ongoing commitment to making high-quality research accessible worldwide.

The extended program includes leading journals across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Renowned titles such as B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics, Folia Linguistica, Journal of Globalization and Development, Mammalia, and Beiträge zur Geschichte der deutschen Sprache und Literatur will become freely available, reinforcing De Gruyter Brill’s commitment to advancing scholarly communication through fair and sustainable open access.

As in previous years, De Gruyter Brill will evaluate institutional support for its S2O journals at the end of February 2026. If the program’s targets are met, the 2026 volumes will be published as open access.

Additionally, starting January 1, 2026, participating institutions will receive complimentary access to the complete archive of each journal from the first issue onward, adding further value for supporting libraries."
