Summary:

"HRB Open Research, a dedicated platform for grantees of Ireland’s Health Research Board (HRB), launches today with the publication of eight articles. All articles are freely available having been published using an immediate publication open access model, and will now undergo invited transparent peer review, post-publication. The first publications cover a range of article types from traditional research articles to study protocols and an open letter, and include a broad set of topics from public-patient involvement in research to cervical screening.

This new platform, controlled by the HRB, follows in the footsteps of other funders such as Wellcome and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, who have launched their own publication platforms. HRB Open Research will use services developed by F1000, the same as those used on Wellcome Open Research and Gates Open Research.

In publishing on HRB Open Research, grantees of HRB will be able to share any results they think are worth sharing. The publication process used here will speed up the dissemination of results, increase transparency and reduce research waste...."
