Museums Join Open Access Movement | Art, Museums, and Technology

"In a step towards becoming digital citizens, museums are joining the Open Access movement. Open Access aims to make material available to all through digital online platforms, without charge, and free of most copyright and database restrictions.  The movement, which still remains controversial, is garnering more favorable attention, especially after the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s move to make over 375,000 public domain images available online, allowing the copying and distribution of digital materials under their partnership with Creative Commons."
