"The Indiana University Libraries seeks a creative and forward-thinking professional to manage the library’s scholarly communication efforts. Reporting to the Head, Scholarly Communications, this position provides operational oversight for specific areas of the Library’s scholarly communications program. This is an IUB Libraries’ assistant/associate librarian appointment with its attendant responsibilities and privileges and works directly with faculty and researchers to provide services focusing on publishing and disseminating scholarly materials and adopting practices that maximize the impact of faculty research and writing while protecting their intellectual property. Working in collaboration with liaison librarians, this individual will lead efforts to educate and advise the campus community on issues of open access, Creative Commons and other alternative licensing models, digital publication, open textbooks and other open educational resources, and alternative metrics for measuring research impact.

The position will provide visible support for the campus-wide scholarly communication program, which is built on the IUScholarWorks institutional repository along with open access journal publishing services delivered with the IU Office of Scholarly Publishing. The position will be part of a dynamic and collaborative Scholarly Communication department and will work closely with Library Technologies staff responsible for the development of the IUScholarWorks repository to include additional use-cases such as integrated initiatives in research workflows, publisher open access policies, and data persistence and preservation. The position will serve as the primary liaison for open publishing initiatives via the use of the Public Knowledge Project’s open publishing platforms Open Journal Systems and Open Conference Systems. The position will be part of a team to develop a full program that consists of training, outreach, liaison duties, policies, procedures, technologies, tools, and workflows for the dissemination of knowledge from IU faculty and researchers in all forms.

Reporting to the Head of the Scholarly Communication department, the librarian will serve as the liaison to the IU Office of Scholarly Publishing (OSP), working closely with OSP colleagues, chiefly including representatives of the IU Press, to shape the future of collaborative open access publishing services for the IU Bloomington campus."
