Summary:

"We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with interest in research reproducibility and research data management and sharing to join the Research Data Team as the Research Data Co-ordinator. In order to increase research transparency and re-usability, most UK funders now require that research data originating from publicly-funded research are properly managed during the research lifecycle and made publicly available at the end of the project. To support researchers with meeting these requirements, the Research Data Team provides numerous data management and sharing services (www.data.cam.ac.uk), which include an institutional repository to house these datasets: www.repository.cam.ac.uk.

The role-holder will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the academic community engagement and interest in research data management and sharing. He/she will take the lead on the Data Champions programme and look after one of the research groups that participate in the Open Research Pilot Project. The role holder will regularly prepare and deliver presentations and training on research data management and sharing across the academic community at the University of Cambridge. The role holder will also advise researchers on data management, data management planning and guide them through the process of data submission to the institutional repository and oversee the research data collections at the University repository.

The Research Data Co-ordinator will also contribute to Research Data Services development at Cambridge and will liaise with colleagues nationally and internationally to exchange best practice (attendance at national and international meetings). The role holder will be also expected to contribute to writing blog posts and to doing research projects on topics related to research data management and to open research.

This role is an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development and will suit both research data management professionals who look for new development opportunities, as well as researchers with experience of research data management and sharing, who are interested in pursuing a career outside of academia."
