L’Open Data culturel est possible (et les bibliothèques le prouvent !) - @ Brest

Summary:

"One of the important points in the future will therefore be to put together arguments in favor of the opening of contents, which can convince schools. However, there is probably now enough free reusable content put on-line by French libraries so that we can study the practical effects of the choice of openness, both on the public and the institutions. But there is still a great lack of data and observations on this subject, although I believe it is a crucial issue in the debate. At my level, I have tried to contribute to a better knowledge of the online dissemination of the digitized heritage during my time at the BDIC, when the institution chose to go to the Open License. Indeed, I was able to participate in a Labex project 'Past for the Present' , which allowed us to follow for almost a year the diffusion and re-use of a large body of photographs relating to the First World War , In the context of the centennial commemoration of 14-18. The raw results are online in Open Access on HAL in this research report and a detailed publication will follow in a book devoted to the project."
