Summary:

"Cell Press is seeking a full-time scientific editor to spearhead the launch of an exciting new open access journal.  Building on the success of Cell Reports and EBioMedicine, we are expanding the range of open access options that we have for the scientific community by launching a new broad scope journal that champions basic life and physical science.

We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Lead Editor for this journal who shares our passion for helping scientists publish their work in a straightforward and timely way.  This job offers an opportunity to shape the organization and progress of this new journal and the broader Cell Press open access publishing portfolio.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Publishing Director and Publisher to devise and implement strategic and organizational plans for the journal

  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond

  • Representing the journal and Cell Press at scientific meetings

  • Hiring and managing the internal editorial team

  • Overseeing the contribution of supporting external editors

  • Coordinating review and publication of direct submissions and referred transfers 

    As the Lead Editor, you will also travel to scientific conferences and research institutions to directly engage with scientists and to keep abreast of recent research developments. You will also have the opportunity to be a stakeholder in innovative Cell Press initiatives that shape the future of science communication.

    This is a full-time in-house editorial position, based at the Cell Press office in Cambridge, Massachusetts."
