"The Scholarly Communication Librarian provides strategic leadership and direction for the development of the University of Chicago's growing scholarly communication services, including Knowledge@UChicago, the institutional repository (IR) being developed in collaboration with the University's IT Services.

This position provides outreach and advocacy; develops training programs and other services around data management, author rights, copyright, and open scholarship; and engages with faculty, IT staff, and vendors to develop integrated workflows that provide effective technical infrastructures for research across campus. The position manages the IR, develops responsive services that meet the needs of the University community and leads the capital-funded project to expand IR services and migrate the current technology to a more robust and flexible platform. Responsibilities: -plan, implement, and evaluate sustainable services and policies that support data management, preservation, and broad dissemination of University research; -lead the design, development, and implementation of the new IR platform; -work with faculty, graduate students, and university staff to enable them to better manage, describe, preserve, and make available their scholarly outputs; -research, recommend, and test new technologies; -participate in local, regional, national initiatives regarding standards, best practices, cooperative data curation, and research life cycle management activities and services; -support and train librarians on scholarly communication services. The position works collaboratively with staff from the University's IT Services and from the Library's three divisions, IT & Digital Scholarship, Research & Learning, and Collections & Access; works with the Repository Developer on all technical issues; collaborates with computing units across campus to ingest data from their platforms into Knowledge@UChicago; and partners with the Library's UX team to assess the IR and scholarly communication services. The successful candidate must have a graduate library degree from an accredited library school, a commitment to ongoing professional development, and at least 2 years experience in an academic research library."
