LIBER Strategy: Looking Back & Moving Forward - LIBER

Summary:

"Under our 2013-2017 Strategy, Reinventing the Research Library for the Future, over 100 staff from LIBER libraries volunteered for our Steering Committees, Working Groups and Fora. Working in tandem with the LIBER Office, they took the priorities set by the Executive Board — Enabling Open Science, Leading in Changing Scholarship and Shaping Innovative Research —  and brought them to life through studies, workshops, training programmes, factsheets and webinars. The list of achievements is impressive and numerous. When the European Commission decided to reform copyright, the LIBER community ensured that the voice of research libraries was heard loud and clear. We spoke out publicly, held dozens of meetings with Commission officials, published a copyright guide for libraries and led work to create The Hague Declaration. Our efforts were rewarded when the Commission included a Text and Data Mining exception in its latest proposals, and we were honoured to be placed on Politico’s Copyright Power Matrix of key players shaping the debate."
