Summary:

A new project of the TELOTA initiative at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in cooperation with the Census team aims at the technological development of the Census database. The research project does the preliminary conceptual work for linking Census data with other digital scholarly resources and for developing a user friendly and sustainable web interface for the visualization and exploration of research data in the overlapping disciplines of archaeology and art history. Based on this case study, the project formulates general concepts and recommendations for research software engineering in the digital humanities.
