With the advent of online communications and increasing competition in both scholarly outlets and tenured roles on campuses, how scholars contribute to academic discourse has become increasingly complicated, and libraries have taken on more in this area. In the public sector, libraries are working more with nontraditional education venues and finding greater need for understanding and utilizing scholarly communications formerly reserved for academia.
