Summary:

"Prize money is up for grabs for whoever can make a proposal to make Edmonton a healthy city. The HealthHack competition at Open Data Day celebrations was held on Saturday as part of the national Smart Cities Challenge.

Competitors will have until March 9 to submit a one-page proposal to an evaluation committee. The best five will be moving on to the prototype stage on March 16. The finalists will present in early April to compete for prizes. First place is $5,000, second place is $2,500 and third place is $1,000.

“We are excited to offer this prize money as we see it as an investment into the future health of Edmontonians. Even if we are not successful in our Smart Cities Challenge submission, I’m confident that some of the ideas we receive will be used for future Smart City projects,” said Soumya Ghosh, director of digital enablement at the City of Edmonton.
