Summary:
"FOOD 2030 sets out an ambitious vision for the future food system, in which challenges as resilience, circularity, nutrition, health, climate of the food system are considered in a holistic perspective, avoiding decoupling and fragmentation. Research and innovation is an important component of FOOD 2030, as new insights (i.e. sustainability, resilience, competitiveness, inclusion) are urgently needed for such a food system perspective, overcoming current fragmentation by building connections in an open environment. Thus, there is a drive for open science, which is a global trend to increase the sharing and collaboration in the scientific community. For Europe, this has led to the emerge of the European Open Science Cloud, which is both an infrastructure, a community and way of doing science in an open fashion, easily using resources (i.e. data, algorithms, etc.) produced by others. This workshop – organised by eROSA Project with the cooperation of JPI FACCE, the ICT-AGRI ERANET and the Food Nutrition Health RI - discusses the implications of Food 2030 and the European Open Science Cloud for science in agriculture and food. It describes the state-of-the-art in open science in agriculture and food and digitization in the food system more generally. The workshop provides participants with a vision and roadmap for making open science in agriculture and food happen through the launch of the e-ROSA roadmap ‘Towards Open Science in Agriculture and Food’. Finally the workshop discusses with participants the implications of the roadmap and open science for their organizations, and relevant ongoing work within JPI FACCE, the ICT-AGRI ERANET & FNH RI.
