Summary:

Create and remix OER using NUI Galway Open Press

The OER grant scheme has three models through which OER may be implemented: adopt an existing open resource or text, adapt existing resources to local needs, and create new resources to fill a gap in suitable materials. Each model requires an investment in time and effort to identify materials and adjust the course to new material and assess its impact. The grant scheme seeks to support and incentivise OER adoption, adaptation, and creation through small grants to participating instructors and creators.

There are three types of grants:

  1. Adopt an existing open textbook (or other educational resource); €300 - €500. Example of an ‘adopt’ “Culture and Psychology”.
  2. Adapt existing OER to your instructional needs; €1,500 - €2,500. Example of an ‘adapted’ text, “Introduction to Psychology
  3. Create an OER where none currently exist; €2,500 - €3,500. Example of an OER created from scratch, “Student Success
