Cambridge University Libraries invite applications for the fixed-term post of Head of Arts and Humanities Libraries.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the group of eight libraries Arts and Humanities libraries within Cambridge University Libraries and to contribute to the strategic development of library and information services to support students and researchers in those disciplines. The group encompasses large libraries, including Classics, English and Modern & Medieval Languages and Linguistics, as well as some of the more tailored and specialist such as Music and Architecture & History of Art, each embedded in the relevant faculty.

In a period of rapid change in student and researcher expectations, a shift to digital in teaching and access to library resources, an increasing demand for remote support to the academic community, and a need for staff flexibility, the appointee will play an important role in understanding new requirements and leading change within the Arts and Humanities Libraries to deliver them. The appointee will build relationships with key academic, administrative and research staff across the School of Arts & Humanities. They will contribute to and facilitate the development of innovative services across libraries serving the School.

You will have a first degree, preferably in a relevant discipline, and a recognised qualification in library and information science or a related discipline or equivalent. With significant management experience in academic libraries, strong leadership, negotiating and communication skills, and a strategic focus, you will have experience of successfully managing change and developing innovative solutions.

The Libraries are currently offering limited in person services, and as such, our staff are working a mixture of on premises and remotely. This role is based in Cambridge, however the successful candidate may need to work remotely in the first instance. This can be discussed at interview.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
