Ringvorlesung: Open Science und Forschungsqualität in Theorie und Praxis (Lecture Series: Open Science and Research Quality in Theory and Practice) | Berlin University Alliance

Summary:

Jointly organised course by the Science Studies Department of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Objective 3 in the summer semester 2021. Various publicised cases of "fraud in science", the discussion about the (non-)replicability of central research results and the internal debates about standards and research practices in different disciplinary cultures have recently led to a recurring criticism of and in-depth examination of the topic of research quality. One answer to the question of how this can be sustainably improved in academic institutions can be found, among others, in the Open Science movement, whose demands go far beyond the approach of Open Access. The lecture is about an analytical overview of central elements of research quality and Open Science and their overlaps. Guests from research and application fields will comment on topics such as peer review, evaluation practices, accessibility and usability of free research data and results, and the emerging digital infrastructures. The lecture is aimed at students of the Master's programme in Science Studies and is open to Master's and PhD students of all disciplines of the collaborative partner institutions. In addition, the event is open to interested parties from research, teaching and science management. It takes place digitally (except for one date) every Monday from 2 to 4 pm. Programme
