Summary:

The Office of Scholarly Communication wishes to recruit a Senior Open Access Advisor to join our team in providing friendly and efficient support to researchers and librarians across the university. The Office of Scholarly Communication is based at the University Library.

The Senior Open Access Advisor will act as subject matter expert on Open Access REF compliance in preparing for and reviewing outcomes of research evaluation exercises.  They will work with senior stakeholders to agree and implement actions to ensure that researchers understand the Open Access requirements and that they are supported in meeting those requirements.

A key part of the role will be to provide monitoring and compliance reporting on open access and usage statistics that meet internal and external requirements in collaboration with the Research Information Office. The successful candidate will also be expected to liaison with internal stakeholders and contribute to and develop the communications, advocacy, training and support programmes for researchers and research managers.

The role incorporates other tasks such staff training and deputising for the Open Access Service Manager where needed. They will provide support and advice to researchers regarding their options for complying with funder Open Access policies and process invoices for article processing charges from publishers.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and they will have experience of a variety of IT platforms, systems and tools. Applicants should be willing to learn and be a flexible team worker who is proactive and able to use initiative.

The Libraries are currently offering increasing levels of in person services, and as such, our staff are working a mixture of arrangements, including some on premises, some remotely, and some a mixture of the two. Which arrangements are currently most appropriate for this post will be discussed at interview.
