"The federal government plans to launch later this year tender to hire specialized international publishers in academic publishing in open access to the internet about a hundred Brazilian scientific journals.
The initiative was announced on Wednesday (29) in Brasilia by Jorge Guimarães, president of CAPES (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), an agency of the Ministry of Education, meeting with about 60 editors-in-chief of the journals country.
At the meeting presentations were made by representatives of five specialized publishers in science: Elsevier (The Netherlands), Emerald (UK), Springer (Germany) and Wiley (United States) -all with offices in Brazil- and Taylor & Francis (UK ).
Approximately 400 scientific publications of international standard in the country remain active periodicity. Of this total, approximately 40 are published by international specialist publishers, which have strict criteria for evaluation and acceptance of scientific articles ..."
