Capes heralds internationalization project of Brazilian scientific journals - 10/31/2014 - Science - Folha de Sao Paulo

"The federal government plans to launch later this year tender to hire specialized international publishers in academic publishing in open access to the internet about a hundred Brazilian scientific journals. The initiative was announced on Wednesday (29) in Brasilia by Jorge Guimarães, president of CAPES (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), an agency of the Ministry of Education, meeting with about 60 editors-in-chief of the journals country. At the meeting presentations were made ​​by representatives of five specialized publishers in science: Elsevier (The Netherlands), Emerald (UK), Springer (Germany) and Wiley (United States) -all with offices in Brazil- and Taylor & Francis (UK ).
