"As of January 1, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is adopting an open-access (OA) policy, which will enable 'unrestricted access and reuse of all peer-reviewed published research funded, in whole or in part, by the foundation, including any underlying data sets,' the organization announced last week (November 20). The Gates Foundation added that it will allow journal publishers to apply embargoes of up to 12-months on accessibility to and publication of data sets, although only through January 2017 ..."
