Summary:

"We are delighted to announce that the Wellcome Trust has signed up to the OLH's Library Partnership Subsidy scheme. The Trust has been a pioneer in supporting a transition to open access for work it funds and has among the most rigorous mandates in the world. It is also one of the few funders to currently insist that its researchers' books are made OA, thus ensuring the broadest dissemination and re-use of work it funds. In the humanities sphere, the Trust is well known for funding work in the medical humanities and particularly the history of medicine. We thank the Trust for their participation in supporting a new model for open access in the humanities. The innovative LPS model that we have been building since the mid-2013 has met with wide enthusiasm among libraries who have formed part of our initial surveys and the full payment mechanism for institutions should be available shortly. In the UK, this will be handled by Jisc Collections. In the US and Canada, we are hoping to finalise an arrangement with LYRASIS. Elsewhere, we are now able to issue individual invoices for any organisations that would like to participate in building a workable transition for open access in the humanities – please contact us for more information ..."
