[From Google's English] "The international press as well as ORF Science recently reported the threats of boycotts of Dutch universities against the academic publisher Elsevier. The Netherlands are committed to open access to scientific publications (Open Access), Elsevier, the biggest scientific publisher in the world, wants to implement but only to very high additional costs. Austria is one of the Netherlands, the UK and the Max Planck Society for the countries which have signed the first open-access agreements worldwide. Together with the library consortium KEMÖ the FWF had an initial agreement with the publisher early 2014 IOP Publishing agreed to another followed in February with Taylor & Franics . Negotiations with other publishers, including the University Conference (uniko) are ongoing. With Elsevier exist to date still old contracts. Unfortunately, Elsevier has not been willing to negotiate with Austria on Open Access. Therefore, the experience of the Netherlands for Austria will be very useful in contract renewals. So far, the FWF is still speaking from no preferences for certain publishers or publication media. However, it should be noted that the scientists should pay as authors, editors and reviewers on the cost and open access options of publication organ ... The FWF supports the efforts of the Netherlands , from Great Britainand the Max Planck Society , as soon as possible to switch the scientific publication system at no additional cost on Open Access (see the FWF statements of December 2014 and April 2015 ) and maintains with these countries a very narrow experience ..."
