Do journal/publishers have the right to suddenly make an article open access without informing author? - ResearchGate

Summary:

"I had one of my articles, titled 'Repositioning culture for development: women and development in a Nigerian rural community' and published in 'Community, Work & Family' (Volume 18, Issue 3, 2015) suddenly mad openly accessible and downloadable to the public. The article is available here http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/13668803.2014.981506?src=recsys While I have no problems (in fact I am happy to see open access) with the article being made open access, I was wondering why neither the journal nor publishers informed of this development. Have anyone had this experience before? Do journals have the right to make articles open access at anytime?"
