"Heather Chapman is an assistant professor of business and economics at Heartland Community College, but she still remembers what it’s like to be a broke college student. So, rather than using traditional textbooks, Chapman uses an assortment of open educational resources and other inexpensive or free materials — even YouTube videos — in her courses. The way she figures it, the 360 students she teaches each year could buy her a car for the amount of money they would have to spend on regular textbooks for her class — not that she is looking for a car. What Chapman is looking for is more professors willing to take extra steps to find more affordable options for their students ..."
