Summary:

“Free Public Access to eBooks by Project Gutenberg Self Publishing. The purpose of Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation is to encourage the voluntary creation and distribution of electronic books. Project Gutenberg Self Publsing's purpose is to create a cloud service for contemporary writers to share their works with readers. From Project Gutenberg, the first producer of free eBooks, now comes the free Author's Community Cloud Library, a social network Self Publishing Portal.  This portal allows authors to share their works with our readers as well as allows readers to provide comments, reviews and feedback to the authors.  Every eBook has its own detail page with ratings and Wall for displaying reader comment.  There is no charge for using this service and registration is not required for reading or downloading the publications or comments... For the next Millennium the digital press will change the literary world as much for modern times as did books from The Gutenberg Press. In 1971 Michael Hart founded Project Gutenberg, a global coordinated volunteer effort to digitize and distribute the great works of history. Mission Statement: ‘The Purpose of Project Gutenberg is to encourage the creation and distribution of electronic books.’ Until now, Project Gutenberg has focused mostly on the re-creation of paper books rather than the distribution of new authors and material, and we have spent as much of our time on finding books and doing copyright research as on eBook creation and distribution. This is our first attempt focused on solely on distribution rather than creation.”
