Summary:

"The new application form for journals' inclusion in DOAJ has been released: http://www.doaj.org/application/new After a period of development work, DOAJ is now ready again to receive applications for journals to be included in DOAJ.  The new application form is quite extensive in terms of the information that publishers need to provide before we can evaluate their journals. All new applications will need to pass this evaluation, as well as journals already included in DOAJ, the latter being given a grace period to provide the new information.  Since collecting this information will take time, publishers of journals already in DOAJ will have the rest of the year to provide the additional information. We have already taken steps to set up an extended community of volunteers to manage the extra workload reviewing and verifying the new applications. Earlier this year we advertised for voluntary Associate Editors and received many applications! We are busy working through those now. Once we have finalised our new teams of volunteers, they will assist the DOAJ Managing Editors to assess, review and verify all the information provided. Since the application form requires detailed information from each journal, it is no longer possible for members of the public to complete the form. We advise members of the community to contact the journal publisher and encourage them to submit an application. Publishers of journals already in DOAJ can log into our new Publishers' Area to apply: https://doaj.org/publisher/ We would like to thank the DOAJ Advisory Board and all the members of the public who contributed valuable comments and feedback during the public consultation period in 2013. We hope that our new criteria for inclusion will provide a much-needed transparency for quality open access publishing and will help all stakeholders in their work of raising the credibility of open access journals."
