Summary:

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the volume of publications in the realm of global open science research and explore the distribution across various research fields. Conducted as a scientometric analysis, the study employed quantitative and qualitative bibliographies sourced from the Web Of Science (WoS) database. Data for the investigation were collected from the database between 2018 and 2022, encompassing open science research (OSR). For the analysis of the data, the Bibliometrix package in RStudio and VOS viewer software were utilized. Throughout the specified period, a total of 19,909 documents concerning OSR were published worldwide, with the majority emerging in 2022, amounting to 5,439 articles. The findings of the study unveiled that Li Y emerged as the most prolific author in this field, contributing a remarkable 89 articles, accompanied by the highest h-index of 25. The results also shown that the Journal of Infection and Public Health published the highest number (24) of articles, followed by BMJ Open with 221 publications. Notably, the Chinese Academy of Sciences secured its position as the most productive institution, accounting for 515 global publications.
