peter.suber's bookmarks 2024-10-02

Summary:

"Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) – unique digital codes that identify researchers, research institutions, their research outputs – are foundational to maintaining an interoperable and reliable global research infrastructure. However, the benefits of PIDs have not yet been fully realized for scholarly activity in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities, for various reasons. With use cases from Knowledge Commons (Michigan State University), the Canadian HSS Commons (UVic), and the American Council of Learned Societies, please join the ORCID US Community and the ORCID-CA Consortium for a community call on how PIDs can be effectively used to advance the work of scholars in this area...."
