In the "Integrated Innovation Strategy 2023" approved by the Cabinet in June last year, it was stated that "a national policy will be formulated for the realization of immediate open access to academic papers, etc. from the new calls for submissions in fiscal 2025 under Japan's competitive research funding system." In light of this, the Integrated Innovation Strategy Promotion Council formulated the "Basic Policy for the Realization of Immediate Open Access to Academic Papers, etc." in February this year.
