Summary:

Abstract:  This paper provides an overview of the Educational Materials Made Accessible (EMMA) project, an international initiative intended to serve the access needs of print-disabled students and scholars in academic institutions. EMMA constitutes an effort by librarians and repository technologists to leverage their knowledge of bibliographic metadata, repository technology, copyright law, and organizational partnerships to help Disability Services Organizations provide access to remediated works to patrons with print disabilities. It provides a deep dive on the project’s background and legal context, details the deposit workflows of the authors’ home institution, and concludes with lessons learned for other libraries.
