REPOSITORY AND OPEN ACCESS OFFICER (PART TIME)

Salary £25,513 to £30,434 per annum pro rata

These are exciting times for research at Leeds Trinity. A new research strategy is in place, with plans for a greatly increased submission to the next REF, and an aim to achieve research degree awarding powers in the future. A significant number of new PhD students began their research in September 2014.

The University has taken the decision to invest significantly in its research infrastructure, including the procurement of a research information management system, incorporating an institutional repository. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, motivated and tenacious individual to this new post, which will report to the Director of Library & Learning Resources, and liaise closely with the Research Office.

A key task will be to draw up proposals for a repository mandate and an institutional open access policy, and once this is agreed, begin to populate the new repository, and promote it to the research community. A further key aspect of the role will be to advise academic staff on routes to open access publishing, and ensure compliance with copyright and licensing requirements.

Applicants should possess a professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Studies. Practical knowledge of institutional repositories and of metadata standards is essential, as is an awareness of current developments in scholarly communications in general, and open access publishing in particular. An ability to promote the service and to build effective relationships with key stakeholders is important.

Hours of work will be 10½ hours per week.
