Summary:

From Google's English: "Who published will be read and perceived. This is also true in the scientific field as in fiction and nonfiction. Open Access postulated per se a better reception by simpler accessibility. Quantitatively, this is only provable by statistics. Can be measured automatically in the electronic environment, only access as an indication of use. Scientific online publications represent a distributed, complex network, in which a publication from different vendors can be found in different technical environments in different stages of the publication process and at different conditions. Therefore, in addition to the definition of what is to be regarded as use crucial, which subregions of the publication network you include in a data collection. Open Access statistics (OA-S) is a cooperative project for the collection and processing of usage data and statistics that extend over various repositories. Over a period of 18 months (Start: 01.07.2008) will set up an infrastructure for the standardized collection of usage data with particular attention to institutional repositories. In close cooperation with the network of Open Access Repositories (OA-N) are given to the hand different user groups value-added services for the use of scientific information...."
