Summary:

"Italy's Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca, or MIUR) is requiring open access for data and peer-reviewed articles arising from a new funding program announced yesterday. See Article 9 for details. This is a green OA mandate, or one allowing publication anywhere and requiring deposit in an OA repository. Data and texts must be deposited no later than the time of publication, and must become OA no later than six months from the date of publication in the natural science and no later than 12 months from the date of publication in the social sciences and humanities. According to Juan Carlos De Martin, this is the first time <http://goo.gl/cXmTGe> that a public funding agency in Italy has put an OA condition on research funds."
