With the German Digital Library [Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek] (DDB) Germany now following the European trend and networks its cultural and scientific institutions with each other and trying to make their content through extensive metadata clearly identifiable and retrievable....Following the example of the Europeana project, is this "open access to scientific and cultural heritage of Germany and millions of books, archives, paintings, sculptures, music and other sound recordings, films and notes" the network with each other and (as an overarching meta-aggregator and search engine in direct competitor to Google Books provide) the general public. For about three weeks, the portal in its beta version to be tested...."
