Census offers glimpse of oceans' smallest lifeforms

"An unprecedented number of tiny, ocean dwelling organisms have been catalogued by researchers involved in a global survey of the world's oceans....The findings form part of the Census of Marine Life (CoML), a decade-long project that will present its full results in October....[Paul Snelgrove, leader of CoML's Synthesis Group] explained that information collected by the various projects will be listed on a open-access database called the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (Obis)....Currently, Obis - which is accessible via the world wide web - has more than 27 million records covering in excess of 110,000 species...."
