Universities were in danger of losing their subscriptions in January and scientists planned to end their cooperation with Elsevier journals. The main stumbling block was the transition to open access. The universities would rather not have their scientific papers behind a pay wall disappear. The results of publicly funded research should be freely accessible to all, is the idea. Elsevier will provide more opportunities for open access. In 2018, thirty percent of Elsevier articles by Dutch authors should be freely available ..."
